Dear Parents, Assalamu Alaikum,
You are all aware of what is going on with the Corona Virus globally. World Health Organization declared it as a pandemic, severe measures are being taken by all the governments, and majority of universities in Pittsburgh switched to virtual classes to prevent the spread of the virus. MAP executive committee also announced the cancelation of the social gatherings at MAP for the month of March (except Jum’ah prayers).
In light of this, sunday school management and education secretary took a decision to cancel in person classes at Sunday School for the next 4 weeks. This means school is closed for Mar 15th, 22nd, 29th, and Apr 5th. Also Apr 12th is the spring break. Therefore, the next school day will be Apr 19th.
We know that our students will be missing a lot of instructions for the next 4 weeks. However, health and well-being of our students and their families is more important and we do not want to take any chances with them.
In the meantime, we ask our parents to dedicate two hours of their time on Sundays during school hours to work with their children on Sunday School assignments. Each week, our teachers will post an assignment for the students and parents to work at home on their weekly updates. For higher grades, students may be required to submit their assignments via email. Weekly updates are posted by Tuesday evening. The best way to follow the weekly updates and communicate with teachers is our School App. The app contains contact information for all the teachers and provides easy access to weekly updates and study materials such as surah memorization help. If you have not already, please download the school app from our web site:

In summary, there is no in person classes at Sunday School until April 19th. Instead, teachers will send assignments for each week via weekly updates and parents are asked to spend two hours every Sunday with their students to work on those assignments. We’ll provide another update in April.
Best Regards,
