Dear Parents, Assalamu Alaikum,
We hope that your families are in good health and spirit. During these challenging times, it is important to keep the spirits up and engage our students with their studies. Towards this end, we have arranged online resources for our students. There are two separate programs that we recommend our students follow.
For younger students (grades KG through 4), we recommend Lion-Hearted Muslims which is a private course for which we secured access for our students only. Please do not share the link with others outside of the community.
For older students (grades 5 through youth group) and parents, we recommend Faith Essentials course which is currently free for 3 weeks due to Corona Virus.
Sundays 11am-2pm (the usual school hours) is a great time to do these courses with your children. You can also do them any other time that works for your family.
For Students at Grades KG through 4
As our in-person activities have been closed at the masjid, our community has partnered with Noor Kids to offer a 10-module online course for kids ages 5-to-12 to nurture spiritual and mental well-being during this difficult time.
This is a private course, and we have secured access for MAP community members. Please review the details below for your benefit.
What is the Course?
“Lion-Hearted Muslims” is a 10-module online course with activities to support spiritual and mental well-being during the coronavirus for children ages 5-to-12.

Click here to access the course.
How does it work?
On the course website, families will be able to: (a) view each of the class videos, and (b) participate in unique, hands-on activities. The classes are available on-demand and can be viewed at your leisure. We recommend that families watch no-more than one class each day such that children internalize the messages.
Is this course open to the public?
This is a private course for our community, we ask that you keep the access details private. If you know any other friends that may benefit from this, Noor Kids is currently allowing families to try their at-home, Akhlaq Building Program for 99¢ around the world. Let your friends know on WhatsApp.
Given that our in-person activities at the masjid have been limited, we are excited about the potential of this course. Many of our community members have seen the quality of Noor Kids programs and classes in the past, and we are excited to provide this as a value to our community.
Please take advantage of it! And further, let us know what you think, as we would like to know if community members would like to see more of these programs in the future.
For Students at Grades 5 through Youth Group and Parents
Faith Essentials is a great online resource for all Muslims who want to learn about their religion. They have 23 modules on fundamental subjects of belief, worship, and daily life each is taught by a well-known scholar. They are offering this online resource for FREE for 3 weeks. Please register and take advantage of this great resource. Click here to access the course.
Students of the Month for February were announced on Sunday. The following students were awarded:
Dear Parents, Assalamu Alaikum,
You are all aware of what is going on with the Corona Virus globally. World Health Organization declared it as a pandemic, severe measures are being taken by all the governments, and majority of universities in Pittsburgh switched to virtual classes to prevent the spread of the virus. MAP executive committee also announced the cancelation of the social gatherings at MAP for the month of March (except Jum’ah prayers).
In light of this, sunday school management and education secretary took a decision to cancel in person classes at Sunday School for the next 4 weeks. This means school is closed for Mar 15th, 22nd, 29th, and Apr 5th. Also Apr 12th is the spring break. Therefore, the next school day will be Apr 19th.
We know that our students will be missing a lot of instructions for the next 4 weeks. However, health and well-being of our students and their families is more important and we do not want to take any chances with them.
In the meantime, we ask our parents to dedicate two hours of their time on Sundays during school hours to work with their children on Sunday School assignments. Each week, our teachers will post an assignment for the students and parents to work at home on their weekly updates. For higher grades, students may be required to submit their assignments via email. Weekly updates are posted by Tuesday evening. The best way to follow the weekly updates and communicate with teachers is our School App. The app contains contact information for all the teachers and provides easy access to weekly updates and study materials such as surah memorization help. If you have not already, please download the school app from our web site:
In summary, there is no in person classes at Sunday School until April 19th. Instead, teachers will send assignments for each week via weekly updates and parents are asked to spend two hours every Sunday with their students to work on those assignments. We’ll provide another update in April.
